    St. Stephen’s College, Delhi Notable Alumni

    St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, is one of the most prestigious institutions in India and has produced some of the country’s most successful and influential people. It has been a part of the Indian educational system since 1881, and it has earned a reputation for producing high achieving alumni. From politicians and bureaucrats to academics, scientists and entrepreneurs, the college has been a launchpad for many of India’s most successful individuals. This article looks at the notable alumni of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and their achievements.

    Notable Alumni of St. Stephen’s College, Delhi

    St. Stephen’s College has produced some of India’s most renowned figures in various fields, including politics, bureaucracy, academics, science, and entrepreneurship. Notable alumni include former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, former Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan, former Chief Justice of India TS Thakur, eminent scientist and Nobel laureate Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, and prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist Azim Premji.

    Other notable alumni include the first female Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit, former Chief of Army Staff General JJ Singh, former Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Arun Prakash, and renowned economist and Nobel laureate Amartya Sen. The college has also produced a number of prominent journalists such as Barkha Dutt and Rajdeep Sardesai.

    Achievements of Alumni from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi

    Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, was an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College and was the first alumnus to become the Prime Minister of India. He is credited with ushering in the economic liberalization of the country in the 1990s and was the recipient of the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour.

    TN Seshan, another alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, served as the 10th Chief Election Commissioner of India and was instrumental in introducing reforms in the electoral process and ensuring free and fair elections in the country. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honour, in recognition of his contribution to the electoral system.

    Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, a Nobel laureate in Chemistry, is an alumnus of St. Stephen’s College and is known for his pioneering work in the field of structural biology. He was also awarded the Padma Vibhushan and the Kalinga Prize for his contribution to the field of science.
